Hauliers acquired by dragon Hilary's firm

The freight distribution business founded by Dragons' Den entrepreneur Hilary Devey has acquired a Launceston haulage firm for an undisclosed sum.

Pall-Ex, which already has a regional operation, in Cullompton, has acquired Intercounty Distribution.

The move will see Intercounty's workforce continue in their roles at the haulage firm, supported by Pall-Ex's own corporate team.

It follows the announced retirement of Launceston company's managing director Nick Coombes, who will stay on while he oversees the business's transition.

Pall-Ex managing director Adrian Russell said: "The South West is often considered one of the trickiest areas for any network to cover, given that it is a peripheral part of the country.

"There simply are not that many hauliers that are the same calibre as Intercounty in the region."
