Hayle teenager cleans up beach to help fund volunteer trip
A HAYLE teenager has been taking part in a sponsored beach clean to raise money for a volunteer trip to Cambodia.
Grace Carr is travelling to the Asian country with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), where she will be working on small livestock farms for three months.
The 18-year-old was joined by friends and family for the clean-up from Mexico Towans to Gwithian, which she said was a good way to raise money and help the community.
She added: “I wanted to do a beach clean as this is the most beautiful bit of coast and it would benefit my local community as well as helping others abroad. It saddens me particularly in the dunes how much rubbish is just left like barbecues, nappies and bagged dog mess.

“My target is to raise £800 and I am just over half way there. I want to thank Gwithian Sands Chalets for the generous donation.”
During her trip, Grace will be living with a local family and helping to improve welfare for villagers.
Grace’s next fundraising event will be a cream tea held at Gwithian. To make a donation visit http://www.justgiving.com/Grace-Carr.
