Helicopters called after serious accident

One lane of the main A30 road was closed yesterday evening following a serious accident. Helicopters, fire engines and police were reported to be at the scene of the accident on the A30 near Whiddon Down, near Exeter. The eastbound lane was closed between Whiddon Down and Alphington junction. Three fire engines were at the scene and there were reports of delays. The westbound carriageway had been reopened. No other information was available as we went to press.
