Helston seeing Stars in opening day fixture
HELSTON Athletic will start their second season in Carlsberg South West Peninsula League football with a trip to Foxhole Stars on August 18.
Fixtures for the new 2012/13 campaign were released at the weekend, with Sid Taylor's men aiming to build on what was a hugely impressive first year after finishing runners-up to champions Newquay in division one west.
Taylor said: "Expectations are going to be high after last season.
"People will be looking at us as one of the favourites, but there are always going to be teams like Newquay, with Wadebridge and Perranporth tipped to do well next season."

Foxhole are currently without a manager following Tony McKellar's decision to join the coaching staff at former club Godolphin Atlantic.
Stars finished fourth from bottom last season, but Taylor warned: "Foxhole is never an easy place to go. We would have preferred a home game to start the season, but that's the way it goes – it's straight back into it.
"We need to start the season better this time if we want to be up there fighting at the end of the season."
Helston have announced a new two-year kit sponsorship deal with Whirlwind Sports.
Striker Mark Goldsworthy was presented with the award for division one west's top goalscorer for the 2011/12 season at the South West Peninsula League dinner in Plymouth. Goldsworthy scored 35 goals in the league last season, with team-mate Liam Eddy finishing second with 29 goals and Taylor is hopeful the prolific pair will be at the club next season.
Meanwhile, Porthleven begin their campaign at home to Vospers Oak Villa, who finished fifth in division one west last season.
The first derby between Helston and Porthleven takes place on Boxing Day at Gala Parc (11am), with the corresponding fixture taking place at Kellaway Parc on Good Friday, March 29 (11am).
The draw for the first round of the Throgmorton Cup was also made last week, with Sid Taylor's Helston hosting Truro City Reserves on September 22 and Porthleven welcoming premier division Penzance to Gala Parc on the same day.
If Helston successfully negotiate their way past Truro then they will be rewarded with an attractive home tie with premier division St Austell.
There will be an equally attractive second round clash awaiting Porthleven if they cause a cup upset with Falmouth Town, who finished third in the premier division last season, awaiting the winners in round two of the compeition.
