Helston Athletic 4, Hayle 0

A BRACE apiece from Liam Eddy and Mark Goldsworthy helped division one west title favourites Helston Athletic return to winning ways at Kellaway Parc on Saturday.

Both sides went into the game on the back of defeats, but it was Helston who came out on top with all four of their goals coming in the second half.

Hayle created the better of the chances in the first half without being able to convert.

And it was the hosts who eventually took the lead, in the 58th minute, when Goldsworthy rolled the ball past Hayle goalkeeper Danny Burrows into the bottom corner after running on to Nigel Thwaites' through ball.

Thwaites was the provider for Helston's second goal too when the Helston skipper crossed for Eddy who stroked the ball home from close range.

Goldsworthy then claimed Helston's third goal, from the penalty spot, after the striker was fouled in the box by Tom Whipp. It was harsh on the defender, who appeared to win the ball, as Goldsowrthy confidently put away the spot kick.

Eddy then claimed his second goal of the afternoon, again Hayle were unclucky to concede, as Goldsworthy collided with Burrows, the ball fell into the path of Eddy who was left with an easy finish into an empty net.
