High-flyers: Graduates show their potential
TWO graduates from Newquay have won prestigious awards for their contribution to helping business to grow.
Held every nine months, the Unlocking Cornish Potential (UCP) awards welcomed more than 110 delegates and recognised the huge impact graduates have had to business growth.

Ellie Garland, from Quintrell Downs, won the Individual Achievement award for her work at Watergate Bay Hotel, Fifteen. A highlight of her digital marketing project was the naming of Fifteen Cornwall in the Headstream Top 100 Social Brand in position 44.
Benjamin Milby, from St Columb Road, won the Contribution to Business Improvement award for his work at The Seafood Restaurant in Padstow.

Supporting HR improvements such as a new time and attendance system, Benjamin saved The Seafood Restaurant £10,000 per annum and managed a £20,000 training and development budget saving.
Joss Hawkins, from Truro, was also recognised for her Contribution to Environmental Sustainability at Pall, St Columb, Newquay.
Joss's project managed the installation of an anaerobic digestion plant at the business and reduced costs and the carbon footprint of transporting hazardous waste off site for treatment.
The event was held at the Keay Theatre in St Austell last week and also congratulated the 90 graduates who have recently completed a UCP graduate placement.
The eight award winners were each the recipients of a bespoke, hand-crafted trophy designed and constructed by University College of Falmouth 3-D design graduate David Forsyth, from Driftwood Surfboards.
UCP is a Combined Universities in Cornwall programme, managed by Cornwall College and receives ESF (European Social Fund) Convergence investment.
Graduates undertake projects key to a company's growth and progression, supported by a UCP business development manager and an extensive training and development fund.
