High winds are havoc for trees
HIGH winds and heavy rain battered Newquay last week.
Cornwall Council Highways were called to four reports of trees falling into roads at Penrose near St Eval; Trevenson Road, in Newquay; Winnards Perch, near St Columb; and Tregarrick.
Police were also called to an incident at Trevenson Road in Trencreek as a large fir tree was blocking the road. It had fallen at around 6.45pm near the junction of Pydar Close and had damaged a fence.
A police spokesman said: "Nobody was injured. One lane was passable so officers stayed on site to direct traffic until highways arrived at 8.20pm. The road was clear by 8.45pm."
