Whatever happens off the field at crisis club Truro City, Lee Hodges is satisfied his injury-hit team are playing their part on the field after back-to-back Blue Square Bet South wins.

Hodges' tight-knit, skeleton squad are now up to fifth in the table following Saturday's 2-0 home win over previously unbeaten Boreham Wood.

Striker Stewart Yetton notched his second goal in two Truro triumphs and new left-back Ben Williams scored his first City goal.

Hodges said: "We don't know what is happening off the field so it's a case of concentrating on what we do know about and the one word to describe how the boys have been is 'amazing'.

"We were down to bare bones again on Saturday and we have won again, and become the first team to beat Boreham Wood, who are a really good side."

Reluctant centre-back Hodges, 38, made his second start in six days as Arran Pugh (hand injury) was ruled out and his place in central defence went to recalled skipper Jake Ash.

Hodges said: "That was the only change, the good news is we were up to 13 because Andy Watkins passed fit so he could start on the bench.

"I would rather have had Pughie in alongside with Ashy but, as we thought, Arran had to have a cast on his hand and, although he took part in the warm-up, he couldn't play, so I had to."

Watkins replaced summer find Kieffer Moore during the second half of Saturday's match, City's fourth unbeaten league game in five.

Winger Adam Kelly set up both Truro goals, threading the ball to Yetton to open the scoring in the 27th minute.

Kelly also supplied the corner delivery that enabled Williams to head City 2-0 up in the 67th minute, just two minutes following Watkins' introduction for Moore.

Wood were reduced to nine men and City ten in the 43rd minute as the visitors had Ben Nunn and Charlie O'Loughlin red carded, while Ash was dismissed for his second yellow card following Nunn's foul on Cody Cooke. The visitors ended the game with eight players following skipper Luke Garrard's 85th-minute dismissal.

Hodges said: "Obviously, the sendings off affected the game but not in as much as we only had a squad of 13 to start the game because of injuries and there's all the stuff going on around us about the club, which we cannot affect.

"When Ashy was sent off, they had chances to score, but so did we."
