Hodges sets safety mark of 45 points ahead of tough month
Truro City manager Lee Hodges is setting his players' sights on getting to 45 points as soon as possible.
Hodges' side are 11th in the 22-team Blue Square Bet South, on 36 points with 14 games remaining ahead of today's tough test at play-off chasing Dover Athletic.
The City boss said: "I've said it before, but March is going to be a massive month for us. We've got seven games coming up next month and finish off this month with two away games against sides above us in the table.
"Dover have a match in hand on the teams in the play-off places and I know that is where they are looking to be, and then next weekend we are at Eastleigh. I'd like to think that, the sooner we get another nine points, the sooner we will be safe. I've said to the players the next target is to reach 45 points as soon as we can."
Today, Hodges will have the rare luxury of selecting from 16 players, despite the fact irrepressible forward Stewart Yetton is still ruled out by a knee injury.
Hodges had positive news on the former Plymouth Argyle striker. The Truro boss said: "Stewart trained on Thursday and now we are just waiting to see how he reacts.
"He won't be travelling with us but if he is OK he'll train again next Tuesday and that will be another boost for the squad. It's positive news because it looks as though we might be getting him back sooner than we expected."
Hodges has high regard for Dover, now managed by his former Reading team-mate Nicky Forster. The City manager said: "They were a good side when we beat them right back at the start of the season, a few matches in.
"We won 1-0 at ours and played well but we needed to because I thought they were a very good side. Despite having a player sent off, they still looked a good outfit and played some good football.
"They passed and moved well and I am expecting the same type of football up there. I understand they like to play it out from the back."
City are unbeaten in three league games after last week's 2-2 home draw with Salisbury which was earned by a stoppage-time penalty leveller from top scorer Scott Walker.
Hodges said: "We got a point last week and it's always great to pick up points when you're not playing at your best. But I'd like to see us turn in a really good 90 minutes, playing consistently well throughout, because I know it's in us."
Hodges adds fit-again goalkeeper Tom Brooks to this weekend's travelling party, but on-loan Plymouth Argyle 'keeper Ollie Chenoweth is again set to deputise for Tim Sandercombe, who had a knee operation this week and is expected to be absent for a further month.
