Holding the Fort for Mr Winner...
POPULAR wedding venue Polhawn Fort, near Rame Head will feature in the final hour-long episode of Michael Winner's Dining Stars on ITV1.
The programme features Michael's favourite two contestants competing for the chance to cook his birthday dinner in London. He finds a selection of colourful local villagers from Kingsand and Cawsand, and invites them to dine with him, eating dinner and lunch cooked by the contestants in the Fort.
James Buss, maintenance manager, who was on-site and helped during filming, said: "I would do it again – it was a laugh. Helping the film crew was great, they filmed scenes so many times to get that perfect shot.
Happiest
"We had to strip rooms entirely of all furniture and paintings, and replace them with the lorry-load they brought from London.
"Normally, I'm on-hand helping weddings run smoothly, letting couples enjoy one of the happiest days of their lives. Being filmed was very different and nerve-wracking: after the event it wasn't so bad, and if I look silly there is nothing I can do."
The Fort is an exclusive wedding venue, not usually open to the general public, so this programme gives viewers the chance to see the draw-bridge, spiral staircases and a grand 80-feet arched and vaulted hall, with brickwork ceilings and massive granite walls.
The programme airs at 9pm on Friday.
