A horse became trapped after falling into a former vehicle inspection pit in West Cornwall yesterday afternoon. Firefighters were called to Blowinghouse, near Redruth, shortly before 3.30pm after reports that a 12-year-old horse had fallen into the outdoor pit. When Cornwall Fire and Rescue crews from Camborne and Redruth arrived on the scene they found the horse, which was 16 hands high, was trapped up to its shoulders. Under the supervision of a vet, officers used a winch to lift the horse to safety. The rescued animal was not injured.
