Hospice gains thousands from marathon swim efforts
SOUTH WEST Lions' Clubs held a presentation evening to award trophies to the winners of its swimarathon.
The event, held earlier in the year, challenged teams to swim as many lengths as possible in 40 minutes in the pool at Carn Brea Leisure Centre.

There were classes for children aged 12 and under, 13 to 18 years and adults.
Winners of the youngest category were the Carn Brea Rockets who completed 122 lengths.
Carn Brea Dynamite swam 138.5 lengths to win the teenagers' category and Carn Brea Aces managed 149 lengths to win the adult and the overall competition trophies.
The teams that took part were asked to raise as much sponsorship as possible with half going to the team's chosen charity or organisation and the other half going to Cornwall Hospice Care's building project at St Julia's Hospice at Hayle.
The swimarathon raised more than £4,300 and it is hoped that £3,000 will go to St Julia's.
