Hospital chiefs: Sunday paper survey is out of date
ROYAL Cornwall Hospital bosses said they expected a new staff survey to improve on results of one highlighted this week as showing more than a quarter of staff would not recommend a relative be treated there.
A front page report in the Sunday Times cited Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust (RCHT) as having one of the largest percentages of staff who said they would not want a friend or relative to be treated there, claiming that 27 per cent of staff surveyed by the NHS had said they would not recommend the hospital.
This was the third highest percentage among trusts on the country.
The findings, based on an official NHS survey of all hospitals' staff, showed that less than half the staff at more than 20 hospitals said they would be happy for relatives or friends to be treated at them.

However RCHT said the figures had been taken from a survey carried out in 2011.
The trust said the results of the most recent survey were due to be published shortly and expected to show an improvement.
RCHT chief executive Lezli Boswell said: "The staff survey results referred to are taken from feedback in 2011 and we do expect to see an improvement when the latest survey is published.
"A more relevant picture of confidence in the quality of care at RCHT is our recent patient experience surveys where 98 per cent say they would recommend our hospitals to their friends and family. Our hospitals also receive 4 and 5-star ratings on the national NHS website."
