Hospital opens door to curious
Fans of medical dramas who wonder what a real life operating theatre looks like will be offered that chance to find out when the region's biggest hospital throws open its doors.
Plymouth's Derriford Hospital is inviting people in to take a look behind the scenes for its first open day for more than a decade.
On hand will be dozens of staff members, including those who regularly swap the wards of peacetime Devon for stints on the battlefields of Afghanistan.
Amanda Nash, head of communications and the organiser of the event, said there was a huge amount to see and a chance to satisfy the curiosity of anyone who wondered how the huge hospital functioned. "We hope we can help you find out a little bit more," she said.
The open day is on September 28 between 10am and 2pm.
