Human rights event in Truro
Human rights experts will be in Truro tomorrow to hold a community event.
All are invited to the British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) tour which will take place at County Hall from 10am to 4pm.
The day includes a practical introduction to human rights law, real life examples of applying human rights in everyday situations, and an update on the current political debates on human rights in the UK.
Stephen Bowen, director of the institute, said: “At BIHR we focus on what human rights mean in people’s everyday lives, from the services we need help from to the schools we attend, we look at how human rights should be at the heart of our communities.”

“We are looking forward to some lively discussions and sharing experiences with people in Truro about ensuring our human rights a reality.”
Tyler Bennetts, staff development officer at Cornwall Council, said: “In Cornwall we can at times feel a bit out on a limb, we sometimes feel a long way from government and places of power.
“By having these events we are reminded we are not alone and there are others who care as passionately as us about human rights.”
