Hundreds at Bude swim
AROUND 800 people of all ages were in the sea for the annual Christmas Day swim while thousands watched at Bude's Crooklets Beach.
"At 9am it was blowing hard and raining, but by the time of the swim at 11am it cleared up and was not too bad. The atmosphere was terrific," said the official starter Peter Vickery.
The swim was actually started by Tivita Moyle, grandson of surf club stalwart the late Mick Moyle, while two other grandchildren, Olivia and William Moyle, took part in the swim, which was watched over by a surf club rescue team squad.
Afterwards drinking chocolate, mulled cider and sausage rolls were available in the clubhouse.
