Hunt follows trail on Boxing Day
THE centre of Camelford was packed on Boxing Day morning to see the North Cornwall Hunt head off for its day following a trail.
Some 36 horses, led by the master Alan Murton and three whippers-in, Gill Barnes, Brian Facey and Tony Pengelly, headed north out of Camelford across a lot of very wet ground towards Roughtor, ending up at the Davidstow forestry plantation.
The trail had been laid earlier, and the riders included the oldest, Dr Bob Meeson at 79 on his 22-year-old mare Bluebird and the youngest Abigail Diamond, of Blisland, who is 12.
"The crowd there to see us off was phenomenal," said Dr Meeson.
