Ice skating returns to Truro next month
CORNWALL'S only open air ice rink is set to return to Truro for a second year this winter.
Set in the grounds of the cathedral in the heart of Truro the ice rink, which is supplied by the company owned by Olympic, World, European and British champion Robin Cousins, is once again being provided in partnership between Truro Cathedral and Totally Truro.
New for this year, the rink is increasing in size and a viewing platform will be installed where hot refreshments and snacks will be available.
Lindy Skitch, property and events manager for Truro Cathedral, said: "The first year for the ice rink in 2012 was a great success for the cathedral and we recognised the need for better viewing opportunities and more available refreshments for people enjoying and watching the skating.

"The rink will be slightly larger this year allowing for a maximum of 110 people per session and there will be a platform where people can stand to watch and have a hot drink."
There are also plans to host special events on the ice rink including disco nights and toddler sessions for the under-4s.
A loyalty card will also be introduced for this skating season; after five skating sessions you will receive the sixth free. Visit the Ice Skate Truro website for further information.
"It is really fantastic to see the ice rink returning for a second year," said Neil Scott, BID manager for Totally Truro BID,
"Christmas in Truro is a truly magical time of year and the ice rink epitomises this. The combined offer of seasonal free events such as the City of Lights parade, our unique retail offer and the ice rink makes Truro the top destination for that special festive cheer and atmosphere."
The rink will be open every day between November 20 and January 5, 2014, except Christmas Day, and is located on Cathedral Green which can be found by walking through High Cross and to the left of the cathedral.
Regular sessions will start at 10am throughout the day until 8.30pm, with late night skating also available on selected evenings throughout the season.
This year, tickets can be booked in advance from October 24 through the Hall for Cornwall box office and by visiting www.iceskatetruro.co.uk
The Ice Skate Truro box office will open next to the Cathedral on November 20.
