Iconic St Michael's Mount features on Microsoft's search engine home page
An iconic Cornish landmark featured on one of the world’s most used search engines last week.
As part of their ongoing stated aim of “encouraging Britons to get out and see more of their amazing country”, St Michael’s Mount in all its splendour could be seen on the home page of Microsoft’s search engine Bing on Thursday.
A spokesman said: “The image illustrates the castle’s dominant position on the skyline overlooking the bay at dusk.
“This specially chosen image was made visible to 12.7 million people across the UK as they completed their daily search tasks and included a link to a gallery of additional images.”
St Michael’s Mount has been the home of the St Aubyn family for 300 years and is one of the most visited National Trust properties in Britain.
Separated from the town of Marazion and the mainland by a 500 yard long granite causeway, the castle is only reachable by boat when the tide is in.
