Illogan crowned champions after comfortable win
ILLOGAN RBL were crowned Jolly's Combination League champions after they comfortably overcame Wendron at Oxland Parc on Tuesday evening.
A 3-2 victory over St Just on Saturday meant Mikey Pascoe's men required only a point from their remaining three games to ensure they couldn't be caught at the top by title rivals St Day, who won 3-1 at St Agnes thanks to goals from Josh Burton, Mike Davies and Danny Ford.
And they did it with two games to spare as they put three past Wendron to clinch the Combination trophy for the sixth time in their history and their first since 2010, an achievement Pascoe believes his side fully deserve.
He said: "It's a relief because it's been a tense few weeks, but we can relax now. We were up for it and I'm glad we got the job done.

"We've been consistent all season and while we haven't been outstanding, we've got on with our job and done what we've had to do.
"We're a good club with loyal lads which is key to any successful side, and we've won it without spending a penny.
"St Day and Ludgvan have pushed us but we were just that little bit better. The league table never lies."
Pascoe also thanked the club for putting their trust in him and giving him the job at the start of the season after he guided the second team to three league titles and two junior cup finals in his four years in charge.
Illogan chairman David Ellis said: "Congratulations to Mike and the boys. We're really proud of them.
"I've been saying to the team all year that it's a marathon, not a sprint. It's been a hard season but we got there in the end."
This time twelve months ago it was Wendron manager Paul Murray, then in charge of Falmouth Town, who was lifting the league trophy, and he admitted after the match that he was pleased for Illogan.
He added: "The best team wins the league so they deserve it. We've got a good set up here and we hope to be up there with Illogan challenging next season."
Goals from Rob Bray (7), Luke Wort (18) and Dan Bowman (62) earned Illogan their 29th victory in 36 games this season, with Wendron's reply coming from Nathan McIntosh (12).
Elsewhere on Tuesday night, St Ives Town beat an under strength Falmouth Athletic side 10-3 at the Saltings. Trystan Lambert hit four of the Saints goals with a hat-trick from James Worrall and others from Martin Harding, Ian Hodges and Simon Stevens.
Perranwell moved into fourth spot with a 3-0 home win over Goonhavern, thanks to goals from Tim Senior, Ben Mitchell and Sean Preston, with Penryn beating Falmouth Town 4-2 in a local derby at Kernick. Dan Webb, Ryan Reeve, Steve Kellow and Scott Kellow scored the Penryn goals with Town replying through Andy Westgarth and Matt Gilbert.
Down at the foot of the table Newquay were 3-0 winners at home to Porthleven with Sam McKune, Alex Cole and Ollie Downing on target for the Peppermints.
Meanwhile Ashley Smeeth bagged a hat-trick, with Richard Scott also finding the net as Troon recorded a 4-1 home win over RNAS Culdrose, for whom David McPhee netted a consolation.
