Illogan man's suspended jail sentence for benefit fraud
An Illogan man has been sentenced to eight weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months, and a six month supervision order after he admitted benefit fraud of more than £12,000.
Peter Everett, 52, of Alexandra Road, Illogan pleaded guilty at Truro Magistrates Court on September 6 to housing benefit and council tax benefit fraud totalling 12,934.98.
He pleaded guilty to four counts of benefit fraud, two of failing to tell Cornwall Council that he had a paid job and two counts of failing to inform the authority that his partner was also employed.
The overpaid benefits are being recovered from Mr Everett by Cornwall Council.
