The premier division clash at Mount Wise attracted a crowd of 305 and they didn't have to wait long for the first goal as Chris Reski fired the visitors in front after eight minutes.

But the Peppermints were soon all square thanks to a superb free kick from Danny Brook in the 16th minute and for the rest of the first half the teams traded half chances.

Newquay started the second half in positive mood and were ahead for the first time through skipper Shaun Middleton after 51 minutes.

And they extended their lead in the 68th minute through Mark Vercesi to leave the Lillywhites with a mountain to climb in the last 20 minutes.

There was little sign of a comeback until three minutes from time when an inswinging corner from Reski caused problems for Newquay keeper Sam Trudgian, who ended up sending the ball into his own net to set up a nervous finish.
