An injured crewman on a vessel anchored just outside of Falmouth was picked up by a life boat crew in order to get treatment yesterday afternoon.

The man was on board the Maltese registered bulk carrier Maciej Rataj six miles off the coast when he suffered an eye injury while operating a pressure washer.

Having received medial advise from a shore based doctor, organised by the coastguards, he was advised to get treatment.

The all weather lifeboat from Falmouth was called at 2.20pm to take him off the ship.
