Injured yachtsman rescued off Land’s End
A pensioner sailing singlehandedly from Portugal has been rescued off Land’s End –after drifting for a considerable time.
Originally from Kent, the yachtsman had a suspected head injury when he radioed for assistance at midday today.
It is thought the man met with difficulty after the sails of his yacht were damaged.
Sennen Cove lifeboat crew towed the yacht back to Newlyn harbour at approximately 4.45pm.

The sailor is believed to have had his injuries treated at hospital.
A coastguard spokesman said: “He had been sailing the yacht singlehandedly and we believe he had been drifting for quite a while.
“He seemed to be in quite a confused state.”
