Invitation to view Envirobed cattle bedding production plant
The new production plant producing Envirobed cattle bedding at Aylescott, near Umberleigh, in North Devon, is holding an open day for farmers on August 28.
The new drying plant, which has already been manufacturing Envirobed for Westcountry farmers for several months, will give visitors an opportunity to see exactly how Envirobed is produced and to discuss any issues concerning winter bedding with the advisory team from Envirosystems.
The Aylescott plant has the capacity to produce 10,000 tonnes of Envirobed a year and has a facility to enable bedding to be collected or even delivered in smaller loads if required.
"Envirobed is the UK's most widely used cow cubicle bedding," said Liz Russell, managing director of Envirosystems. "As well as providing a comfortable bed for cows, the inert nature of Envirobed means it creates a barrier to infection in the fight against environmental mastitis. And in addition it's totally safe when mixed with slurry and avoids any risk of poisonous gases being produced."
The open day at Aylescott begins at 11am and will include a tour of the drying plant, a barbecue and refreshments.
