Jill Stein receives OBE from Prince William at the Palace
Padstow's Jill Stein received her OBE for services to the restaurant industry at Buckingham Palace earlier today.
Mrs Stein, former wife of celebrity chef Rick, received the honour from the Duke of Cambridge, who was hosting his first investiture ceremony on behalf of the Queen.
The Steins set up the renowned Seafood Restaurant in Padstow 38 years ago and Mrs Stein, who is also a successful interior designer, said it was a “great honour” to receive the award.
“We have been here for 38 years and Rick is the face of course, but I think people presumably will have mentioned me for it and realised there’s two of us,” she said. “I just think it is a great honour, great that it has happened.

“I didn’t think it would happen in a million years; you don’t because you are so focused on what you are doing at the time.
“Rick and I set up all those years ago and it’s very nice to have some recognition for my lifetime’s work.”
With Rick’s natural cooking abilities and Jill’s instinctive customer service and interior design skills, the business has continued to grow to where it is today.
The honour follows a number of awards presented to Jill over the past few years in recognition of her contribution within the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry; including an honorary doctorate of business from Plymouth University.
