Just five days to guarantee gallery's gardens' plan cash
FUNDRAISERS at Newlyn Art Gallery have just five days left to reach their £5,000 target to transform the building's garden in to a community area and outdoor learning space.
Although the full cost of the work to redevelop the front and back garden is estimated to be £15,000, the group will use the £5,000 to kick-start the project.

Newlyn Art Gallery. Simon Jaques, left, the gallery operations manager and Phil Booth from the Newlyn Association of Artists discuss the plans for the new gardens.
Since fundraising began, the gallery has received overwhelming support from its local community, with generous donations from many people, including Sennen author Patrick Gale. However, due to the rules of the crowdfunding website the gallery is using to raise money, if its target is not met by November 27, it will get nothing.
Gallery spokeswoman Kathy Hill expressed her thanks for the support so far. She said: "We have had lots of offers of help: from landscape gardeners, from people rolling up their sleeves and pulling on their wellies as we speak, and from generous people and local businesses who are going to sponsor elements of the landscaping."

The gallery is hoping to use the money to begin work on a new-look fully paved front garden, including a five and a half-metre oak-steamed bench and bicycle rack, while the back garden will be redesigned to serve as a learning space for schoolchildren.
The oak bench, designed by Tom Raffield, will comprise six steam-bent oak slats and will be dedicated to the memory of artist Jeremy Le Grice.
