Kernow Curnows invited to global family reunion
Members of the Curnow family from New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Canada and the United States, as well as from all over England, Scotland and Wales, will be returning to their homeland in May for a family reunion.
"The family tree is more of a forest," said Howard Curnow (pictured) of St Hilary, who is organising the reunion.
"The total number of names in our forest now exceeds 320,000. From the 16th century to the 18th century these Curnows were exclusively from West Cornwall, but in the past 200 years the majority are the result of the 19th century worldwide Cornish Diaspora.
"Of course, many of these names are descended from female lines, so no longer carry the Curnow surname, but Mariella Fernandez Curnow Diaz from Havana in Cuba is very proud of her Cornish ancestry, as are the other 100 members of her family there."

"Everyone with a Curnow connection is welcome for any part of the weekend," said Howard.
"But it is essential that people let me know that they are turning up – particularly so we know how many to cater for on the Sunday when there will be a proper Cornish dinner and local entertainment."
