Key job to help islands' tourism and business is now going to be shared
JOINT co-ordinators will head Scilly's Tourism and Business Partnership following the failure to appoint a manager during the first recruitment round.
Long time friend of the islands, Dave Meneer, of Scilly's new marketing group Wolf Rock, and Amanda Pender, the current islands' Local Action Group (LAG) manager, are to take over the crucial role.
Board chairman Chris Gregory forecasts they "will make quite a team".
Said Mr Gregory: "This is such a diverse role that finding one person to fulfil all the duties was always going to be difficult.

"This tailor-made solution gives us the best of both worlds and brings a huge wealth of knowledge and experience to our board.
"Dave and Amanda will be working part time for the partnership but together, will offer more time than a single full-time person.
"They start work with immediate effect."
Mr Meneer, founder of Wolf Rock, was marketing director for the Eden Project and a chief executive officer of Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall at Watergate Bay.
While he was at the helm, more than 10 million people visited Eden, while Fifteen attracted 80,000 diners a year spending nearly £4 million.
He has worked in senior positions at many of the world's largest advertising agencies.
"He will be able to act as an immediate link," said Mr Gregory.
Bryher-based Amanda has, for the past three years, headed the successful islands' LAG which, to date, has allocated £1.6 million of Defra and Euro funding to island causes.
"With the LAG programme moving towards its close Amanda's workload will reduce," said Mr Gregory.
"It will leave her able to work with the Island Partnership team to realise the aspirations of the tourism sector on every level, including securing opportunities for business development and funding."
