Kilimanjaro climb for mum and daughter
A MOTHER and daughter from Bryher joined 29 other people from Cornwall recently to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
Jo and Ginny Hulands assembled with the rest of the group at the air ambulance headquarters before the 18-hour journey to the foothills of the highest mountain in Africa.
Paula Martin, chief executive for the charity, said: "This is the first overseas big group challenge fundraising event for the Cornwall Air Ambulance and we were overwhelmed with the response. So far they have raised over £75,000 for the charity after the costs of the trip. I want to congratulate everyone and thank all of their sponsors for helping to raise such a phenomenal sum of money. Everyone at air ambulance HQ is very proud of them and we are watching their progress thanks to the GPS tracker they have with them."
They were expected to reach the summit at the end of last week.
