LIVE BLOG and WEBCAST: Cornwall’s planning committee to decide fate of proposed Coyte Farm development in St Austell
Cornwall Council’s strategic planning committee will today decide the fate of a proposed £110 million retail park and Marks & Spencer store at Coyte Farm.
If approved the controversial plans - submitted by Metric Property and Mercian Developments - would see a major new retail park built on the outskirts of St Austell, incorporating Marks and Spencer, Next and Sainsbury's stores.
Those supporting the scheme say the development will create hundreds of jobs and boost the local economy.
However many traders fear the park is too big and would kill the town centre.
