THE MICHAEL Jordans of the future were on show as schools battled it out in a basketball festival.

Treviglas School's Sports Hub hosted the Newquay Schools qualifier for Cornwall School Games.

Seven primary school teams competed for the opportunity to represent Newquay in the area finals, which lead to the Cornwall School Games in June.

The youngsters played on a mini-basketball court in teams of five with at least two girls on each court. The league gave way to a final of the top two teams – Perranporth Lions and Goonhavern – the 'lions' narrowly winning.
