Landslide at Looe closes A387
Cornwall Council has closed the A387 on the eastern side of Looe, following a landslide.
The Council says that poor weather conditions caused two areas of concern close to where the B3253 meets the A387 at Sandplace Road. As well as the landslide, there is surface cracking further uphill along the B3253 road. Due to concerns over the stability of the area of hillside between the two roads, the Council took the decision to close the A387.

The B3253 at St Martins Hill is being controlled by traffic lights and will continue to remain open this weekend while further investigations take place into damage caused to the road and supporting hillside following the recent heavy rain.
Highway engineers are carrying out further investigations to assess the extent of the damage and will undertake remedial works to the road when these investigations are complete. Measures are also being put in place to reduce the risk of further damage during the weekend, when further bad weather is expected.

Cornwall Council says "Despite the issues affecting the local road network, Looe remains open for business and it is expected that bus and rail services should still be able to operate a reasonable service to and from the town."
