Lanhydrock sets out its stall for £1,400
RAIN stayed away for the annual Lanhydrock fete, near Bodmin last week, helping to raise more than £1,400 for local charities.
The event at Lanhydrock House was opened by Squadron Leader (retd) Louis Riley.

There were an array of stalls and games on offer for all ages, including a coconut shy, digging for treasure, book sales, cream teas and competitions to find the 2008 longest runner bean, the best basket of vegetables, the most unusual tomatoes and the finest cakes, breads and pasties.
The younger villagers also had the chance to take part in scarecrow building and miniature garden design competitions.
Grand raffle prizes were donated by Lanhydrock Hotel and Golf Club, Ian Holding Electron and VK1 hairdressers.
Additional prizes and vouchers were also donated by Sainsburys, Asda, Morrison's, Tesco, Bricknells, WH Smith, Woolworths, the Factory Shop and Andy's Meats of Par.
The money raised from the event will be equally divided between the St Hydroc's church and the Lanhydrock war memorial hall.
St Hydroc's church has a defined charitable donations policy which will mean that its share will be distributed to local charities including St Petroc's Society, ShelterBox and Children's Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal.
The money given to the memorial hall will be used for ongoing maintenance and repair work.
