Lanner Parish Council has lost its appeal against plans to build 25 affordable homes in the village.

Cornwall Council granted planning permission to Coastline Housing for the development in 2010.

The parish council, adamant that the village did not have a need for the properties, opted to fight the decision in the High Court.

A judicial review was held last October and the decision announced today, January 21, has gone in Cornwall Council's favour.

“Great to see the NIMBYs overruled. What right do they have to deny youngsters a chance to get on the property ladder?”

“Amazing! Cornwall is desperate for affordable homes for its young. Lanner NIMBYS fight it and lose. Shame the Parish Council officers won't personally have to pay. Sometimes the 'Greater Good' must prevail. Thank goodness it has.”
