A community hospital in Cornwall has been closed for four weeks after traces of the legionella bacteria was found in the water system.

The bug, which causes the potentially fatal Legionnaires Disease, was found in two locations at Launceston Hospital.

Peninsula Community Health, the private company which runs the hospital, said there was “no reason to suspect that public, patients or staff have been exposed to a specific risk of infection.”
