Laws heads Lib Dem manifesto group
Liberal Democrat minister and Yeovil MP David Laws has been appointed to chair a working group to draw up the party's manifesto for the 2015 general election. Accepting the role yesterday, Mr Laws said the Lib Dems were "the only UK political party which can be trusted" to deliver a strong economy and a fair society. The appointment marks a further stage in his political rehabilitation. He resigned from the Cabinet in 2010 and was later suspended from the Commons over abuse of parliamentary expenses, but returned as education minister in last September's reshuffle.
