League goals get the boot
ONLY goals scored in the Jolly's Cornwall Combination league will count towards this season's Golden Boot Award, writes Paul Smith.
Any goals scored in County Cup matches are not counted and League Cup or Supplementary Cup goals are added to player records, but not the Golden Boot.
Talking of goals, at the moment after first six weeks of the season there is a healthy average of just over four and a half goals scored per game whilst the average attendance is just over 47, up on last season.
This average gate always decreases during the long winter months but is good news for clubs after hearing that other leagues are suffering falls in the number of spectators attending games.

The highest combo gate so far has been roughly 120 to watch the local derby between Pendeen and Ludgvan, while Culdrose's only home game so far, against Perranwell, was watched by the smallest gate of 14.
Will anyone keep a blank sheet against Falmouth Town this season? They have now played 48 league games in a row, scoring in every one.
The next highest teams on a scoring run are St Ives and Falmouth Athletic, with 17, followed by Pendeen (13), Culdrose (12) and Illogan (11).
Unbeaten
Half of the clubs have scored in every league game this season, but St Ives are the only unbeaten side.
Will Porthleven's Gavin Perraton ever score more than one goal in a game? So far his team have played 11 games and he has scored a single goal in seven of them. Both Jowan May of St Ives and Duane Britton of St Agnes have scored in six of their club's games this season but have scored more than one a game, unlike Gavin!
Seven of the League Cup first round ties (to be played on November 17) have been sorted out after three of the four preliminary round matches were played last weekend. The last preliminary round match between Pendeen and Newquay was cancelled as several of the Newquay lads were on County Youth duty.
It will soon be time for club committees to start looking at the league and consider whether to apply for promotion this season.
Clubs who have left the Combo to play higher standard football are: Truro City Reserves, Helston, Mousehole, Penryn, Porthleven, St Dennis, Wendron, Mullion, Illogan, Goonhavern, Hayle, Perranporth, Sticker, Nanpean, Truro City and Falmouth Town, all who have had at least one season in the Combo. Of that list of 16 teams, 11 are playing in higher level leagues. Perhaps it's time for someone else to make the jump?
