Learner drivers must speak English or Welsh
Learner drivers will have to speak and read English or Welsh during their tests from April. Transport Minister Robert Goodwill said foreign language support will no longer be available after concerns were raised that the current system allows motorists on the road who might not understand signs. The theory test has been available in 19 foreign languages, while learners can also attend theory and practical tests with an interpreter.
