Devon dates next week

When James Robinson sings, he cuts straight to the chase – whether that's soulful heartache or rabble-rousing joy. As singer and frontman with bright and bouncy alt-pop ensemble Two Spot Gobi – favourites on Westcountry stages over the past five years – the Plymouth born and bred musician has established himself as a highly charged and charismatic songwriter and performer. Now, he's striking out as a solo artist with a five-track EP – Ropes – and a short UK tour. Next week he has three Westcountry dates – Mama Stones in Exeter on Thursday, James Street Vaults in Plymouth on Friday and the freshly refurbished Barrelhouse, in Totnes, on Saturday. "I'm playing the music I really love now. There is some full-on uptempo stuff and we also bring it right down," he says.
