Life was always an adventure for Winnie Sevier, 105
A GREAT-GRANDMOTHER from St Ives who lived a life of "discoveries and adventures" has died at the age of 105.
Winnie Sevier, born in the town in 1908, lived through two world wars and travelled the world before spending her final years in Marazion. She died at her home on December 27.
She was born at a time when St Ives luggers filled the harbour and cars were a rarity.
At 10 Winnie moved to Pendeen after her father, Captain Cann, was appointed as the managing director at Geevor Tin Mine, and it was there she met and married her husband William Sevier.

They spent their early married life travelling, visiting South America, India and Nigeria and flying on the first passenger aeroplanes.
Though she never had a career Winnie was always busy cooking, gardening and entertaining.
She leaves two children, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Her granddaughter Francesca Ausenda said: "She will remain an inspiration to all who have known her.
"A woman who lived the moment and always looked to the future, who took an interest in everyone, always asking questions and showing gratitude, it's not surprising that the last word she uttered was 'Thanks'.
"Her life was an intriguing novel full of discoveries and adventures around the world, she said.
"She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends."
Following the death of her husband in 1990 Winnie vowed never to travel again, but she remained active and even after her 100th birthday played hide-and-seek with the younger members of the family.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday at All Saints Church, Marazion.
