Lifeboats launched after reports a fisherman may have fallen off Newlyn harbour
BOTH Penlee lifeboats were launched at around 10 o'clock last night with concerns a fisherman had fallen in off Newlyn Harbour.
A member of the public raised the alarm as he spotted angling gear and a bag of food left on the quay.
Police then contacted Falmouth Coastguard and the inshore and all weather boats were tasked to search for the missing fisherman.
The harbour's night security guard confirmed seeing someone angling from the north pier earlier that evening, and it was believed he may have been in danger.

However, by 11pm the missing male's father reported that he was safe and well and had simply left his belongings behind.
A Falmouth Coastguard spokesman stressed it is important to take everything with you while on the coast, as if there is "any reason to be nervous" the emergency services are called into action.
