Lilywhites on fire as lacklustre Hayle crash out at first hurdle
Hayle 1, St Austell 5
IT was probably just as well Hayle boss Gary Marks was not present to see his side crash out of the Charity Cup at Trevassack Park on Saturday.

He would not have been best pleased by what he saw as the Lilywhites took a stranglehold on the match with three goals in the first 12 minutes, all scored by Will Tinsley.
Assistant manager Wayne Quinn standing in for the absent Marks, was at a loss to explain his side's lackluste performance. "We just never got going and St Austell were the better side on the day, without a doubt," he said.
Livewire Tinsley was on target after only five minutes with a superb 30-yard drive into the top corner that gave home keeper Dave Cheal no chance.
Five minutes later Tinsley struck again with a precise finish from Liam Dingle's cross, before completing his hat-trick two minutes later from an Andrew Butler cross, following good work by Ollie Brokenshire and Mike Body.
The visitors went on to dominate the rest of the opening period, with former Penzance midfielder Gary Wheildon bringing a fine save from Cheal and Body shooting narrowly wide on two occasions.
Hayle improved after the break and Matt Shiels twice forced decent saves from St Austell keeper Garry Penhaligon. But these were still rare flurries by an out-of-sorts Hayle side, who fell further behind midway through the second half when Body turned a defender outside the area before curling a superb shot into the top corner.
Richard Crapp added the fifth on 77 minutes after playing a neat one-two with Body, drilling his shot inside Cheal's near post.
But a late consolation came for the home side when substitute Ryan Stephens fed Chris Wolstencroft to send over a driven cross that found Dan Magee – who had a short spell with St Austell last season – and he stole in at the back post to fire past Penhaligon from close range two minutes from time. But by then, it was all far too little too late.
Hayle are at home to Truro City on Saturday (2.15).
