Lion's youth award for Carn Brea judo star
A JUDO fighter who suffered from eczema which covered his whole body has received recognition for his loyalty and dedication to the club.
Seventeen-year-old Morgan Whittaker, from the Carn Brea Judo Club was presented with the Lions Youth award by the Camborne Redruth and District Lions Club.
A spokesman for the club said: “Morgan joined the club over 11 years ago and despite his dreadful eczema, which covered the whole of his body, he never once complained.
"Sometimes, when it got so bad he would ask to leave the mat and sit quietly and watch proceedings because his skin was bleeding.

“Despite his suffering he managed to achieve his junior brown belt and now holds a senior 3rd Kyu – green beltgrade.”
Mr Whittaker, whose condition has since cleared up, still arrives early for meetings so that he can help with the coaching of the younger members, who are aged four to 12.
His ambition is, sometime in the future, to achieve the grade of 1st Dan, Black Belt.
He was presented with the Lion’s Youth Achievement Certificate and a voucher to purchase new Judo kit by Melanie Brown in memory of her husband Kevin, who was a past president and youth officer of the Lions Club.
