Little boy smashes Cornish record for gigantic fish
A LITTLE boy from Mevagissey has smashed a Cornish record by catching a fish almost as big as himself.
Seven-year-old Taylan Brewer has broken the county’s record for the biggest fish caught by an angler under the age of 18.
The massive cod – weighing 19lb 7oz 9drams – was landed in Polperro over the weekend.
“We have independent witnesses from a fishing boat which was drifting alongside us at the time. They were very excited when they saw Taylan with a rod bent over double,” said his dad Glenn.

“The sea federation of anglers are looking into whether it's a national record for his age group.
“But nevertheless it’s a big feat to wrestle a fish of that size up from 160ft depth and land it in the boat by himself, but I know he's no ordinary kid.”
