Local MP visits Lostwithiel youth project
A LOSTWITHIEL project aimed at helping youngsters gain skills for the future was visited by South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray.
Mrs Murray was at the Wild Woods project for a tour of the site and a first-hand look at the work carried out and the benefit it brings to youngsters in the area.
The project was started last year by Richard Brown and runs as a place where young people can come to learn, relax and enjoy themselves. Wild Woods teaches how to manage plants and woodland, the art of crafts and rustic building skills and how to cook and eat healthily.
Mrs Murray, said: "This is a fantastic project and the success rate Richard has with youngsters is phenomenal.
"His enthusiasm with this project is clear.
"He makes the youngsters who get involved part of the project and then steers them into jobs that they find interesting in the local area."
During her visit Mrs Murray was also given a glimpse at future plans for the top of the Wild Woods site, which features fantastic views across the valley.
"This site has such fantastic potential I know that Richard is the right person to inspire and enthuse these youngsters, some of whom are often hard to reach, to make the area great," she added.
"I feel sure he will also be able to steer them in directions which will encourage them to be a really useful part of society."
