Looe man drives wrong way down 70mph carriageway of A38
An elderly man from Looe had a lucky escape after he drove the wrong way down a dual carriageway for ten minutes - in the dark.
The confused driver was seen in his Vauxhall Astra southbound on the A38 northbound carriageway whilst trying to head towards his home in the resort.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the vulnerable driver had been travelling along the 70mph road for about 10 minutes before he stopped the car just after 9.30pm on Monday night.
A police spokesman said: "Within minutes, police were on the scene and managed to get to the vehicle which is believed to have stopped on the hard shoulder.

"There's no suggestion this chap had been drinking or anything like that, he seemed a little confused."
Police took the man home, along with his car, and said they would follow up the incident with the DVLA and the man's doctor.
