Lottery funding success for project to rebuild fire damaged Ponsanooth Hall
WORK to give a burnt-out community hall in Ponsanooth a new lease of life can begin this year after the project secured a lottery grant of £346,682.
It has been nearly five years since the Methodist Church hall was virtually destroyed by arsonists.
Volunteers quickly formed a community group to start the process of re-opening and it is hoped this will happen next year.
Planning permission has been granted for the reconstruction of the Grade II listed building with a more suitable internal layout – as chosen by the community itself.

And now the Big Lottery Fund's Reaching Communities programme has given the rest of the money the project needs to come to fruition.
The new plans include extra space so that multiple activities can happen at any one time, plus a kitchen, two meeting rooms, office, toilet and storage space.
A new mezzanine floor will be added which will also have full disabled access with the provision of a lift.
Penryn-based Swamp Circus Trust, which runs accredited courses for youngsters, also received funding from the lottery - a grant of £177,680.
