Love onshore
VISITORS to the award winning harbour front St Ives restaurant onshore will find love is more than just in the air this Valentine's with the restaurant planning to mark the occasion with a 'Love Local Food Weekend'.
Running across the evenings of February 12 to14, head chef Reuben Paulse and his team have created a menu for food lovers, incorporating the very best of local ingredients, including crab, lamb, goat's cheese, John Dory, lemon sole and duck.
Dishes on the menu include grilled fillets of John Dory and lemon sole on a bed of leeks and slow roasted potatoes, confit of duck with Dauphinoise potatoes and a Grand Marnier sauce and twice baked souffles of Cornish Blue cheese, poached pears in champagne, chocolate marquise with thin chocolate wafers and rosewater and orange crème brulée.
According to onshore owner David Graham, while you don't need Valentine's to fall in love with local food, the fact February 14 falls on a Sunday was too much of a temptation not to run the Love Local Food Weekend.
"We pride ourselves on using local food and drink suppliers wherever possible and throughout every aspect of our menus we celebrate everything good about Cornish food and drink," said David.
"But we really wanted to combine our love of food with what is supposed to be the most romantic time of the year and asked Reuben and his team to come up with a range of dishes that celebrated both, and make a long weekend of it at the same time, and we are delighted with the result.
"With a great atmosphere, great location and great food and drink, we'd like to think we have all the right ingredients in place for a great Valentine's weekend," he added.
