A tractor driver spent four hours trapped in his cab after bringing down power cables onto his vehicle while spreading dung. Firefighters were alerted to the incident at Pillaton, near Saltash, at 2.10pm on Thursday, but were unable to act until the power was switched off. Engineers from Western Power Distribution made the 33,000-volt cable safe and the driver was released unharmed, shortly before 6pm. The cables also set light to a 50-metre square patch of straw stubble which firefighters put out using beaters.
